Privacy Policy
Hello and thank you for visiting my website! I hope your visit was enjoyable and informative, and I'd like to make it more informative by letting you know how my site handles your personal data.
Information Collection / Usage
WEB BROWSER
Even if you're just browsing the site, certain information will still be collected by Squarespace, my site engine. This includes your browser type (Chrome, Firefox, etc.), language preference, referring site, pages viewed, and the date and time of the visit(s). Squarespace also records potentially personally-identifying information like visitors' Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. All of this information is collected to help me better understand how visitors use my site and to monitor and protect the site's security. I do not share this information with anyone. See Squarespace's privacy policy for information on how this data is collected and/or stored.
Google Analytics
My website also uses Google Analytics to collect visitor data and analyze site traffic. Like the browser information, this data helps me understand visitor interests and improve site content. All collected data stored in Google Analytics is deleted after a period of 26 months, though it doesn't contain any personally-identifying information in the first place. I will never sell or share the data stored in Google Analytics with anyone.
FORMS
When you interact with content on my website, I may ask you to provide certain personally-identifiable information that can be used to identify or contact you. "Personally-identifiable information" may include your name and email address, which I may ask for in the following situations:
SUBMITTING COMMENTS—when you comment on a blog post or announcement, including your name and email address allows you to bypass the moderation process and have your comment appear directly on the site (note: you do have the option of posting comments anonymously). While I never use this information directly, it is still stored. If you sign in to a third-party service to submit a comment (current options are Disqus, Facebook, Twitter, or Google), please refer to that service's terms of service and privacy policy.
USING THE CONTACT FORM—if you choose to communicate with me via the form on the Contact page, I will require your name and email address in addition to the message body and subject line. This merely allows me to respond to you in a personalized manner, and I do not use the information for any other purpose.
NEWSLETTER SIGNUP—by signing up for my mailing list, you are agreeing to allow me to send you periodic emails containing book-related news, announcements, and other information pertaining to my work. When you sign up for my newsletter, I will ask you to provide your email address (and, optionally, your first name). The subscription process includes double-opt-in and a confirmation email to ensure your consent to subscribe. Your data is stored by my mailing list provider, and if at any time you choose to unsubscribe from this list, you will receive one final email confirming the subscription cancellation. I will never share your subscription information with anyone, use it for any other purpose, or contact you unsolicited.
For any questions or concerns about how your data is used, or to request that your data stored by my mailing list be deleted, feel free to reach out to transcendence.publishing@gmail.com.
Cookies
Cookies are small pieces of data sent to your browser when you visit a site, and they may include an anonymous identifier. Cookies help me analyze how my site is being accessed and used, and allow me to track performance (for example, whether a certain page has been visited or a blog post has been viewed). This enables me to provide you with more information you find interesting.
You can set your browser to not accept cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Though refusing cookies can sometimes limit your ability to use certain websites, it shouldn't have a significant impact on your experience with my site.
